Tauranga’s civic regeneration plan formally adopted for development

Today, Tauranga City Council formally adopted the amendment to the 2021-31 Long-term Plan, which will see council go ahead with bringing the full vision for Te Manawataki O Te Papa to life in a single staged, phased development.

The refreshed masterplan, which we developed in partnership with mana whenua and the council, was approved in December last year.

We are very excited to be working with the council as its development partner to deliver this transformative project.

We are also looking forward to working in the local community from our new Tauranga offices on Spring Street, where we will be co-located with our project construction partner LT McGuinness.

Our Partnering Agreement with Tauranga City Council (TCC)

Willis Bond has entered into a twelve-year partnering agreement with TCC. Under the terms of the agreement, we will work with the council to deliver real estate solutions on council-owned land in the Tauranga city centre.

Willis Bond worked in collaboration with TCC and mana whenua, including representatives from Ngai Tamarāwaho, Ngāti Tapu and Te Materāwaho, to refresh the Tauranga Civic Precinct Masterplan originally adopted in 2018. The refreshed plan reflects the evolution of the council’s strategy from 2018 to 2021 and a greater recognition of cultural history and significance of the site to mana whenua. The refreshed masterplan was formally approved by the council’s Commission in December 2021.
