Te Auaha Campus

State-of-the-art performing arts campus and retail development in Wellington

Situated on the site of the old Deka building on the corner of Cuba and Dixon Streets, this mixed-use development forms the first stage of Willis Bond’s Cuba Precinct project and was completed in 2017.

A joint project with the Whitireia WelTec Strategic Partnership, the campus includes Whitireia WelTec’s 9,200 square metre Te Auaha creative arts campus and 745 square metres of ground-floor retail space.

The first-floor heritage façade of the building was strengthened and retained as part of the development and the building’s structure is designed to the seismic requirements for an Importance Level 3 building, which is effectively equivalent to 130% of those required for a typical office building.

The development is fully leased to Whitiriea WelTec with Barkers Menswear, Cotton On and Vodafone stores operating in the retail spaces along the Cuba Street frontage.

This project is a collaboration with Athfield Architects and construction partner LT McGuinness.

Project completed, 2017
