A new convention centre and movie museum located opposite Te Papa on Cable Street, Wellington.

Willis Bond is working with the Wellington City Council on this exciting new $150 million project.

Located in a prime tourism spot, opposite the Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa, the proposed development includes a 2,000-seat conference centre on the top floor and a movie museum on the two lower floors.

The museum, operated by The Movie Museum Limited, will be home to a collection of movie memorabilia synonymous with Wellington’s film-making industry, including an emphasis on the Oscar-winning Lord of the Rings trilogy.

Studio Pacific Architecture has been appointed to design the building. Design is well underway with construction set to commence in the near future once the project is confirmed.
