90 Devonport Road, Tauranga

New Zealand’s largest mass timber office building

Willis Bond is proud to be delivering 90 Devonport Road, which is set to be the largest modern mass timber office building in New Zealand.

Currently under construction and due to be completed in 2025, this exciting project sets new standards for sustainability in development and construction in New Zealand, targeting a reduction of all-of life-carbon of more than 60%, and 6 Green Star and five-star NABERS ratings.

Being built by trusted construction partner LT McGuinness, this cutting-edge 10,000sqm sustainable building is set to become the new home for Tauranga City Council administration staff, bringing the entire team together under one roof for closer collaboration in a future-focused workplace.

Sustainable and future-focused

We’ve worked with our project partners Warren and Mahoney and LT McGuinness to design this extraordinary office building that uses engineered timber in place of most traditional concrete and steel elements. It will also feature rainwater harvesting technology, EV charging, and extensive end-of-trip facilities to encourage low-carbon commuting options.

We are also working closely with mana whenua to ensure that mātauranga Māori (Māori knowledge systems) principles are intrinsically designed into the building.

90 Devonport Road joins the suite of projects we are delivering in Tauranga, where we are also working with Tauranga City Council to deliver its wider Civic Masterplan Refresh, which includes a new civic whare, museum, library, hotel, and a performing arts and conference centre, all set to be built over the next 6+ years.
