1906 timber merchant’s warehouse - restored and refurbished into modern office and retail space

Uninhabited for 22 years, the derelict former Odlins Building was acquired by Willis Bond in 2003 for restoration and refurbishment. It is now the home of the NZ Stock Exchange and is known as the NZX Building.

The 1906 building is the only physical reminder in the city of the former timber merchants, C. & A. Odlin Timber and Hardware Co. Ltd, and the building is the only one of its kind left on the waterfront.

The restoration and refurbishment process included strengthening the building’s heritage façade and constructing a brand new building behind it, as well as an underground car park below sea level.

The uppermost floors house seven large, boutique apartments each of which runs over two or three levels.

Levels 1 through 4 comprise 4,645 square metres of office premises. Current tenants include the New Zealand Stock Exchange (NZX), and Loyalty New Zealand. The NZX’s ticker-tape enhances the building’s eye-catching façade.

The 100 square metre ground floor retail space currently houses gelateria Gelissimo.
